Easter Greetings

I’m off to the beach for a few days over Easter for some much needed seaside air and sunshine, but before I go, here’s a glamorous beauty hatching from an egg. HAPPY EASTER!

Easter Greeting Postcard
Easter greeting cards and postcards became popular at the end of the 19th century. This titillating card although unmarked, was possibly printed in Germany around 1908 (based on similar cards posted around the same date). People hatching from big eggs seemed to be a bit of a theme for the Easter Season back in Edwardian times. Really, who didn’t want a risque fantasy Easter Greeting with a beautiful young lady hatching from an egg? Curious indeed!

Below is another card along a similar theme from The Philco Publishing Co (Holborn Place, London). This one features 5 glamorous beauties riding in an elaborate Easter egg carriage, driven and drawn by rabbits in the moonlight.  Ahhhhhhhh. What an Easter dream. It is ‘Philco’ Series 6016.C. for those collecting.
